Statement of Purpose

01.

We acknowledge that sea levels are rising. Due to sea level rise and more frequent and intense storms, communities across the country are at high risk for severe flood damage.

The more than 40 million Americans who live with high flood risk need policies to protect their homes and businesses, recover from flooding, and adapt their communities in order to face future flooding and storms.

03.

Congress must play a central role in developing proactive strategies for flood hazard mitigation, recovery, and community adaptation.

04.

We affirm that bipartisan action on building resilience is necessary to strengthen and protect coastal and inland communities for generations to come.
